Seems like youth sports is a hot topic in the community. When did it get all crazy? Growing up it was way less intense. We were lucky if we played 14 baseball games a year and then possibly got selected for the All-Star team; now kids can play 100 games a year or more. Football began in fourth grade, not first or second grade. There were no clubs or travel teams in basketball, wrestling, soccer, or volleyball. Most of us were lucky to have a parent drive us to practice and games. Is it the parents pushing the sports on kids or are the kids asking for these clubs and more games? Should we be starting math clubs, writing clubs, future doctor, engineer, and attorney clubs instead of all these sports clubs? Just wondering when we will realize that other countries' kids are passing ours up in academics which will make their lives harder.

Welcome New Lenox!!!! Lemme hear ya....good and loud.......

Finally, I see there is some interest in starting a community blog. I got wind of the TOPIX sight and see that there is a bunch of nonsense posting so I decided to start a productive one. Welcome to the Knightly Buzz, which will serve as the "Peoples'" forum, through which the residents of New Lenox can comment on what is going on in our community, hopefully which will be more good than bad. I will try to steer the conversation toward "hot issues" within the community. For those of you new to blogging, there will be some rules of engagement. This forum is not the place to slander neighbors (ie. so and so is sleeping with so and so, or so and so is a drug addict, etc.). If someone posts nonsense then it will be filtered and deleted. Yes, hopefully we will have some heated discussions, but let's all remain civil. The more readers and posters we get the more productive we will be. I'm sure in time, our community leaders will get wind of this site and pop in to see what "the people" are saying about their decisions and ability to lead. Once again, this is a place to praise, critique, and vent, so let's see what you got!!
